About the Journal

The Abuja Communicator, a bi-annual publication of the Department of Theatre Arts, University of Abuja, is a scholarly journal dedicated to the exploration and analysis of culture and media arts. We invite researchers, scholars, and practitioners to submit their original contributions for publication in upcoming issues. The journal aims to foster academic excellence, encourage interdisciplinary approaches, promote cultural diversity and expression, critically examine media arts, and support emerging scholars in the fields of culture and media arts.

Scope and Objectives:

The Abuja Communicator welcomes high-quality research papers, critical essays, and theoretical perspectives that contribute to the understanding of culture and media arts. The journal aims to bridge the gap between various disciplines such as theatre, film, music, dance, visual arts, communication, and cultural studies, fostering interdisciplinary research and collaboration among scholars from diverse backgrounds. We seek to explore the richness and diversity of cultures in Nigeria, Africa, and beyond, examining how cultural practices, traditions, and expressions shape and are shaped by media arts. The journal also provides a platform for the critical examination of various forms of media arts, encouraging analysis of aesthetics, production techniques, socio-cultural implications, and the impact of media on society. We encourage critical analysis of current developments, trends, and debates, providing insights and perspectives that contribute to the ongoing discourse in these disciplines. Additionally, The Abuja Communicator is committed to nurturing and supporting emerging scholars, offering them a space to publish their work, engage in academic discourse, and establish their scholarly presence.
